Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba made this known while addressing graduating students of 2016/2017 in the university committee forum.
"The emphasis being placed on high academic standard and on culture of benefits with responsibility by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba has started yielding high dividend and recognition within and outside the country as the academic ranking released by a notable ranking body has seen the University making some remarkable progress, way above many older Universities in Nigeria.

Prof. Nwajiuba since his assumption of duty less than a year ago has embarked on aggressive campaign to alter the mind-sets of staff and students of the University to be in tandem with global best standard; galvanizing them to imbibe the qualities of eagles and organizational culture of excellence and integrity in order for the University to achieve its vision of world-class status.
Staff, having seen the passion and irrevocable commitment of the Vice Chancellor towards academic re-engineering and administrative astuteness as well as infrastructural renaissance of the University, was left with no other choice but to buy into this unassailable vision and are already running with it in their various capacities.

The positive consequence of this change in gear and new workers’ attitude was the recently released 2016 Webometric World University Ranking where FUNAI was ranked 1st among the 12 newly established Federal Universities; 22 among all the Universities in Nigeria (Federal, State and Private, all inclusive) and 3, 242 globally. In the 2015 ranking the University placed 74 in Nigeria and 11, 443 globally. The extraordinary academic leap witnessed by the University is not unconnected with the improvement in the quality of teaching, research and community service of the institution under the visionary and exceptional leadership of Prof. Nwajiuba, who has vowed to take the institution to greater heights within the minimum time frame.

The University is expected to be among the global academic players in the next decade if the vision of the institution is strategically implemented. And this can only be made possible when all stakeholders within and outside the University resolve to partner and synergize with the Vice Chancellor to deliver on his promises and good intentions." He said.
