internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the North East were today
handed over to the
Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) for onward delivery to the
victims of Boko Haram insurgency.
The items, including cash donation of about N7million, were presented by the Director of
Medical Services, Air Vice Marshal Saleh Shinkafi, to the NAFOWA National President,
Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar. The presentation marks the climax of a noble idea that was mooted
some months ago by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar, during durbar
with commanders in which NAF personnel were encouraged to voluntarily contribute
towards supporting the efforts by the Federal Government to alleviate the plights of the IDPs.

Abubakar expressed deep appreciations to officers and
men of the NAF for their genuine concern towards the IDPs and for taking concrete step to
put smiles on their faces. She promised that the Association would be fair and transparent in
handling the donations, even as she stated that the items would be transported immediately
to Maiduguri to enable the body do the distribution in Bama IDP Camp over the coming
weekend.
